ISO 45001 software
Run ISO 45001 every day, not just before the audit.
AccelSafety turns your occupational health and safety management system into daily work with owners and deadlines, and keeps the evidence for every clause in one place.
ISO 45001, clause by clause
ISO 45001 has ten clauses. The requirements you must show evidence for are in clauses 4 to 10. This is how AccelSafety supports each one.
| Clause | Requirement | How AccelSafety supports it |
|---|---|---|
| Clause 4 | Context of the organization | Sites, activities, interested parties and the scope of your OH&S management system, kept as live records. |
| Clause 5 | Leadership and worker participation | Policy, roles and responsibilities, safety committee meetings and worker consultation records. |
| Clause 6 | Planning | Hazard identification, risk assessments, legal and other requirements, and OH&S objectives with owners. |
| Clause 7 | Support | Training and competence matrix, awareness sessions, communication and controlled documents. |
| Clause 8 | Operation | Operational controls, permits, contractors, visitors, management of change and emergency preparedness drills (see emergency preparedness across many plants). |
| Clause 9 | Performance evaluation | Inspections, monitoring, internal audits and live KPIs that feed management review. |
| Clause 10 | Improvement | Incidents, nonconformities and corrective actions, tracked until closed and checked for effectiveness. |
Why teams move their ISO 45001 system online
Records ISO 45001 expects you to keep
Auditors ask for documented information: some must be maintained (documents), some retained (records). These are the main ones and where they live in AccelSafety. Always check against your own copy of the standard.
| Clause | Documented information | Where it lives in AccelSafety |
|---|---|---|
| Clause 5.2 | OH&S policy | Policy & regulatory compliance |
| Clause 6.1.2 | Risk assessment method and results | Hazards & near misses, risk assessment |
| Clause 6.1.3 | Legal and other requirements | Legal register |
| Clause 7.2 | Evidence of competence | Training & competence |
| Clause 8.2 | Emergency preparedness and response plans | Emergency response: teams, drills, first-aid checks |
| Clause 9.1 | Monitoring and measurement results | Inspections, light & sound levels, group KPIs |
| Clause 9.2.2 | Internal audit programme and results | Audits & inspections, checklists with photos |
| Clause 10.2 | Incidents, nonconformities and actions taken, incl. effectiveness | Incidents & investigation, actions & CAPA |
Documents need version control and access rules too (clause 7.5). Our guide to ISO document control for multi-site groups explains how to keep one current version across every site.
ISO 45001 software for multi-site groups
A single plant can run ISO 45001 on spreadsheets. A group with many certified sites needs the same records, the same workflows and one view of the evidence. This is what AccelSafety adds.

What is changing in ISO 45001
Climate amendment (2024). ISO 45001:2018/Amd 1:2024 (published February 2024) added climate change statements to clauses 4.1 and 4.2, so climate change is considered in the context of your OH&S management system. UKAS treats it as a clarification with no full transition, but auditors expect you to show whether climate change is a relevant issue for you.
Revision (expected 2027). The draft revision (DIS) was in consultation from 16 June to 8 September 2026. SQS expects the final draft no earlier than the end of 2026 and publication no earlier than April 2027. Expected themes include leadership and safety culture, psychosocial risks, new forms of work, return to work after injury or ill health, and controls on externally provided products and services. The harmonized structure is retained, and the transition period is usually three years.
When the new edition arrives, records that are already kept by clause are easier to re-map than binders and spreadsheets spread across sites.
Frequently asked questions
Does using AccelSafety make us ISO 45001 certified?
No software can certify you. Certification comes from an accredited certification body after an audit of your management system. AccelSafety helps you run the system day to day and keeps the evidence organized, so the audit goes more smoothly.
Which ISO 45001 clauses does AccelSafety support?
The practical requirements sit in clauses 4 to 10: context, leadership and worker participation, planning, support, operation, performance evaluation and improvement. AccelSafety has records and workflows for each of them, from hazard identification and legal requirements to internal audits, management review inputs and corrective action.
Can we use it for ISO 14001 and other standards too?
Yes. AccelSafety also covers environmental and sustainability records, so organizations working towards ISO 14001 alongside ISO 45001 can keep both in one system.
We already have procedures on paper. Do we start again?
No. Your existing procedures, registers and checklists are loaded into the system, so your team keeps the same way of working, just without the paper.
What is ISO 45001 software?
ISO 45001 software is a system for running an occupational health and safety management system day to day: hazards, risk assessments, legal requirements, training, inspections, audits, incidents and corrective actions, with the evidence for each clause kept in one place. AccelSafety lets your team work by task menu or by ISO 45001 clause menu (Plan-Do-Check-Act).
Does ISO 45001 require software?
No. ISO 45001 requires documented information to be controlled (clause 7.5), but it is format-neutral: paper, electronic or mixed records are all acceptable if the controls are met. Software helps when you have many sites, many records and many people who need the latest version.
Is ISO 45001 being revised?
Yes. The draft (DIS) was in consultation from 16 June to 8 September 2026. SQS expects the final draft no earlier than the end of 2026 and publication no earlier than April 2027, with a transition period that is usually three years. The harmonized structure is kept. Until then, ISO 45001:2018 with Amendment 1:2024 (climate action changes) is the current version.
Can a group run ISO 45001 for many sites and countries in one system?
Yes. AccelSafety uses one hierarchy from group to region, country, cluster and site. Each person sees their part of the hierarchy and below, and group dashboards drill back to the source records at each site. See our ISO 45001 multi-site certification guide.
